Truckin' Bites

UX Designer

A food truck discovery and mobile ordering app that lets users find nearby trucks, place orders, and pay for pickup, all without the line.

Truckin' Bites

Context & Problem

When someone wants a quick bite from a food truck, they hit two problems: they do not know exactly where it is, and once they find it they can wait in line for up to an hour. A National Restaurant Association report showed that people aged 18 to 34 are the most likely to eat at food trucks, so they became our focus group. Our challenge was to make finding a truck and ordering online fast, easy, and low-stress.

Process

I ran five one-on-one interviews, and we surveyed 139 people. A few things came through clearly: location and speed matter most. Knowing where a truck is, and how fast you can order, brings customers back. We built a persona named Francisco Smith, a 29-year-old coffee shop manager with a short lunch break. After studying competitors and mapping how people would move through the app, we built a working prototype in Figma.

Outcome

In the second round of testing, every participant finished all the tasks without trouble. The final design covered everything from finding a truck to browsing its page, ordering on your phone, and checking out. The whole flow, start to finish, built and tested in three weeks.
